Members Eager to Purchase ASLA Standard Contracts
Since April 1, ASLA has sold 28 standard form contract packages online.
At the beginning of the month, ASLA released the standard form contract package, a business tool developed specifically to meet the needs of the landscape architecture profession. The package, which contains two forms—one for regular projects and the other for relatively simple, low-risk projects—is available through the professional practice page on the ASLA website. Each contract provides a clear starting point for defining the terms of professional service and can be customized to address the unique conditions of a given project.
The response to this initiative has been overwhelmingly positive, and 28 packages have already been purchased. The electronic package is licensed annually and sold on a graduated fee, based on the purchasing firm’s size. During 2008, ASLA is offering a special introductory price on the package. Individuals will receive a $50 discount off the regular member and nonmember pricing structure. To order, click here.

Good contractual arrangements are an essential component of a sound professional practice. A clear and complete contract for professional services creates a mutual understanding of expectations regarding scope, deliverables, and payment for services. The ASLA standard form contract package is a tool that landscape architecture professionals should consider using to strengthen their protection against liability.
