Announcements

David Gregory, Associate ASLA, and Jennifer Carpenter, ASLA, have joined Design Studios West, Inc. as landscape architects. Design Studios West is located in Denver, Colorado.

Val Little, ASLA and principal research specialist with The University of Arizona’s College of Architecture and Landscape Architecture and director of the Water Conservation Alliance of Southern Arizona, testified before the U.S. House Subcommittee on Energy and Environment. Little testified at a hearing titled “Research to Improve Water-Use Efficiency and Conservation,” which took place on Oct. 30. The purpose of the hearing was to evaluate the need for research and development of technology that will enhance water-use efficiency and water conservation. Little also provided her perspective on current federal efforts to promote water-use efficiency and conservation through programs such as the Environmental Protection Agency’s WaterSense program. Prior to her tenure at the Water Conservation Alliance of Southern Arizona, Little was manager of The Nature Conservancy’s Hassayampa River Preserve. She has a master’s degree in anthropology from the UA. Her work in water conservation and demand management has taken her to Jordan, where she worked with the USAID Water Efficiency and Public Information for Action program and the Amman based Center for the Study of the Built Environment. She has written numerous water-use efficiency publications including “Graywater Guidelines” and “New Mexico Gray Water Guide,” and currently serves as a board member of the Nicaragua-based nongovernmental organization, El Porvenir.
