The Cultural Landscape Foundation Launches the Third Annual Silent Auction Catalog
October 6 and 7 at the 2007 ASLA Annual Meeting
The Cultural Landscape Foundation (TCLF) has launched the online catalog for the Third Annual Silent Auction to be held in conjunction with the 2007 ASLA Annual Meeting in San Francisco. The auction includes more than 70 sketches, paintings, photographs, books, garden furniture, clothing, and other ephemera executed by notable landscape architects and artists. In addition to the diverse collection of work by both veteran and emerging landscape architects, this year’s auction will include more than a dozen works by professional photographers from across the country and will also feature a special section called "Spotlight on the Bay Area" that will highlight Bay Area art and artists.

This year’s auction will take place on October 6 and 7 at the Moscone Convention Center, the site of the ASLA Annual Meeting. Bidding will be open from 8 AM to 6 PM on both days. Immediately following the close of bidding on Sunday, conference attendees are invited to join TCLF board members as well as the silent auction's contributing artists and successful bidders for an evening reception sponsored by Monrovia. The reception will take place in the auction space and will offer one final viewing of the auction pieces before they are presented to the winning bidders. The celebration will include opening remarks by ASLA Executive Vice President Nancy C. Somerville and TCLF founder and President Charles Birnbaum, FASLA, as well as the official announcement of TCLF’s 2007 Landslide selections: Heroes of Horticulture.

Thanks to ASLA’s generous sponsorship, all of the proceeds from the auction go toward supporting TCLF’s educational initiatives. These programs, including the Landscape Legends Oral History initiative, Landslide, and Cultural Landscapes as Classroom, further TCLF’s goal of increasing the public’s awareness of the importance and irreplaceable legacy of cultural landscapes. TCLF is also proud to announce that for the first time, this year’s auction will be supported by presenting sponsor Longshadow.
