Iowa Architectural Foundation Seeks Landscape Architects
The Iowa Architectural Foundation (IAF) is planning four or five charrettes in 2007 for their Community Design Program. IAF is seeking landscape architects to participate in these events. The IAF Community Design Program was developed to serve the many communities across the state of Iowa that are in need of urban planning and design assistance. The Community Design Program helps those communities by providing a very open and public decision-making process that brings organizational representatives, community officials, and concerned citizens together with professional designers. After months of organizing, these parties come together for an intense weekend of exchange and visioning. Considerable time is also devoted to follow-up on ideas generated after the workshop. Each workshop is tailored to fit the specific community. Recent workshops include Walnut, Carter Lake, Grinnell, and Estherville.
For more information, please contact Kim Wagner, Iowa ASLA, at 515-225-2323 or ia-asla@assoc-serv.com.

Oregon ASLA

"Inside the LA Studio: Residential Design in the Pacific Northwest with Steven Koch, ASLA—A Reprise Presentation from the 2006 ASLA Annual Meeting"
Steven Koch, ASLA, is an award-winning designer practicing in the Portland/Pacific Northwest area whose designs reflect a pastiche of influences ranging from European/East Coast formalism to a warmed, regional modernism, to expressions of cultures around the Pacific Rim. In spite of these influences, a connection to nature and the dramatic, regional landscape remains central to his work. This reprise presentation from the 2006 ASLA Annual Meeting was inspiring and explored this premier landscape architect's residential work in a key region of the United States, delivering lessons learned from his international residential projects. GreenWorks PC hosted the event.

University of Oregon Shadow Mentor Day
