2006 ASLA Graduating Student Survey Results
The market remains strong for first-year landscape architects, with the vast majority reporting higher salaries and multiple job offers.

This summer, ASLA conducted its ninth student survey and received responses from 402 graduating students—254 with undergraduate degrees and 144 with MLA degrees. Of the students surveyed, those who had accepted positions reported an average annual salary of $40,000, an 8 percent increase from the results collected in 2005. Of those respondents, undergraduates reported an average salary of $37,900, a 4.7 percent increase from 2005, while MLA graduates averaged $43,800, a 10.6 percent increase from 2005.

On average, respondents reported that they had received two job offers at the time they completed the survey. In addition, 71 percent of respondents reported that they had received at least one job offer. Eighty-seven percent indicated that they intend to seek state registration as a landscape architect; only 2 percent responded negatively.
