PPNs to Convene at Annual Meeting
ASLA’s Professional Practice Networks (PPNs) provide forums for specialized discussion and information exchange.

The beauty of the electronic age is that members of groups such as ASLA’s Professional Practice Networks can communicate from across the country and around the world. But sometimes there is nothing like face-to-face encounters to energize and enliven discussions and give people the opportunity to really connect. For PPNs, that opportunity comes once a year at the Annual Meeting, when ASLA offers each network a scheduled time and place to meet. You don’t have to be a member of a PPN to attend the group’s meeting, so this is a good time to check out a PPN that might interest you.

PPN meetings are generally roundtable discussions. They usually begin with all participants introducing themselves and summarizing their type of practice. As the conversation develops, participants talk about the kinds of issues arising in their work, what resources would be helpful to them, and how the PPN may be able to provide for those needs.

The meetings provide participants with focused networking opportunities. The meetings also generate ideas for PPN activities over the coming year—how PPN members can approach common concerns using resources and capacity provided by ASLA, including newsletter publication, website content expansion, and funding for special projects. Feedback about the challenges faced in specific areas of practice helps ASLA to channel its efforts and shape its programs.

All PPN meetings will be held at the Minneapolis Convention Center. The schedule for this year’s meetings is listed below. We hope to see you there!
