ASLA Begins Work on Business Indicators Survey
The purpose of the survey is to collect, analyze, and disseminate business indicator data on the profession for information and research purposes.
ASLA will be conducting the next national business indicators survey during July and August 2006. All ASLA key contact members with landscape architecture firms, multi-discipline, architecture, and engineering firms, and design/build firms will receive an email invitation to participate. This invitation will include the link to the online survey. The purpose of the survey is to collect, analyze, and disseminate business indicator data on the profession for information and research purposes. The survey will cover private sector market and business indicators and the results will include analysis of market sectors, project types, client types, billing rates, contract types, design competition participation, marketing, spending and construction cost ratios, and profit margins. The survey data results are continually in demand by private practitioners, economic analysts, and researchers. The information will be collected in a database and available to search online by subscription.
ASLA most recently published the online business indicators survey in 2004. ASLA is the sole provider of this statistical overview of the profession, and the most current data is anticipated.
The data from both ASLA’s National Salary Survey and Business Indicators Survey is shared with the Bureau of Labor Statistics and used in their Occupational Outlook Handbook web site promotion of landscape architecture as a career option. ASLA uses the survey data to help recruit students and others to become landscape architects. ASLA media relations uses the data frequently throughout the year to demonstrate the high demand for landscape architecture services. The results of the last survey appeared in over 150 newspapers in all the top 20 media markets. The ASLA press releases about the 2004 Business Indicators Survey and the 2004 National Salary Survey feature highlights of the last survey findings.
If you are a firm key contact member of ASLA we hope you will participate in the ASLA business indicators survey. If you have any questions please contact Susan Cahill at scahill@asla.org. The 2004 survey results represent data from 1,000 firms.
The quality and detail of the survey results depend on ASLA members' participation. |
