Callander Associates Landscape Architecture, Inc. is pleased to announce the opening of its San Jose office to complement its other two California offices in San Mateo and Rancho Cordova. Founding principal Peter Callander, ASLA, began the firm over 33 years ago. Over the years the firm has provided public and private clients with a full range of services for parks, recreation, transportation, urban design, open space, and other landscape architectural projects. Centrally located in downtown and close to mass transit, the San Jose’ office will help the firm better serve its Silicon Valley clients as well as provide exceptional professional growth opportunities for existing and future staff. The office will be led by Marie Mai who is a proven leader and an outstanding manager for clients and will have the backing of five seasoned principals with over ninety years of combined experience.
Site Design Solutions LLC (SDS), a new landscape architecture, planning and design service company, has opened in Kalamazoo, Michigan. SDS was founded by two registered landscape architects who collectively have more than 30 years of professional experience. SDS will focus on the following project types:

The firm’s principals are:
Woodrow S. Isaacs III, ASLA, a registered landscape architect in Michigan, with more than 15 years professional experience. Isaacs has designed numerous K-12 school sites throughout the state, with a focus on outdoor athletic facility development. He is also experienced in higher education, professional office, municipal, and commercial projects. Isaacs holds a Bachelor of Landscape Architecture degree from Michigan State University.
Timothy A. Britain, ASLA, a registered landscape architect in Michigan, with more than 16 years professional experience. Britain has successfully led projects for K-12 school sites throughout the state, as well as higher education, multi-family residential and commercial projects. He holds a Bachelor of Landscape Architecture degree from Michigan State University.

Tim Miller Associates, Inc. (TMA), a land planning firm located in Cold Spring, New York, announces that Frederick P. Wells, ASLA, APA, has been named Senior Vice President of the firm. Wells graduated from the University of Connecticut and has worked in the Hudson Valley and New York metro area since 1980, including managing his own practice with partner David B. Carruth, FASLA, before joining Tim Miller, AICP, in 1997 as director of design services. He is responsible for managing the planning and environmental assessment, site design, and obtaining approvals for residential and commercial development projects as well as formulating environmental management programs for school district and golf course properties.

Larson & Associates Landscape Architecture is pleased to announce the promotion of Daniel McElmurray, Associate ASLA, and Tara Carrell to Associates of the firm.
Daniel W. McElmurray is a registered landscape architect in Nevada and Louisiana; from New Orleans, he joined the Larson team in August 2004 as the Senior Landscape Architect and Land Planner. McElmurray has over fourteen years of experience providing a full range of design and planning services in the public and private sectors; he is also the published author of several articles, reports, comprehensive plans, and development codes. His notable projects currently being constructed include V at Lake Las Vegas for Centex Destination Properties and the Polly Gonzalez Memorial Park for the City of Las Vegas.
Tara Clark Carrell has over four years experience in landscape architecture project management and design at Larson & Associates. Combined with six years of local nursery experience, she has provided a great understanding of plant materials for the desert climate and has successfully worked on such popular projects as Nevada Trails, Prescott Park, and Mountains Edge in the Vegas valley.
Additional recent promotions at Larson & Associates include naming Hector Vasquez as Project Manager, who joined the firm in 2003 after working in both Arizona and Mexico. Overseeing the development of all CAD drawings from design detailing to construction documentation are included with his new project management tasks.
New additions to the Larson & Associates landscape design team in the past year include designer Daryl Miller, project managers Frank Lewis and Camille Goodin, and five new CAD designers: Brian Kitchens, Omar Saleh, Brad Bissell, Matt Durham and Dan Jost.

Jennifer R. Bartley, ASLA, has written Designing the New Kitchen Garden: An American Potager Handbook, which was published in May, 2006, by Timber Press. Bartley holds a BSLA and a MLA in landscape architecture from The Ohio State University. This is her first book.
