Dyas Day
This year the Awards Dinner on April 20th will be the capstone to a special event, Dyas Day.
For those of you that had Professor Dyas as an instructor I am sure you remeber the plant walks and his love for sharing his knowledge about plants. Emeritus Professor Bob Dyas, FASLA will join members at the Iowa Arboretum to celebrate Landscape Architecture Month and to reacquaint us with trees and other plants that we may have forgotten over the years. Additional plant walks with Gary Hightshoe and others are also being planned.
The events for the day include several plant walks and a design charrette. The design charrette will focus on the design of a gathering space at the entry to the shade walk. This gathering space will provide arboretum staff a place to hold educational presentations for groups prior to tours. Several students that have expressed an interest in landscape architecture have been invited to join in on the charrete and plant walks.
It is anticipated that the plant walks and design charette will begin at 9:30 on April 20th and conclude at 4:30. In order to plan for the day, we need to know what the level of interest is for attending all or part of the event. Please email Chris Seeger cjseeger@iastate.edu ASAP (by Friday) if you are interested. CEUs will be provided for this event. Additional information will be provided early next week once we know the level of interest.
