Calls for Book Submissions
HomeTips and WorldChanging are looking for landscape architects to submit projects for two books: one on patio roofs and gazebos, and one on public spaces and urban design.

Two publishers are asking ASLA members to submit their projects for possible publication in upcoming books. One publisher is looking for specific residential projects, while the other is looking for public spaces that were created with community involvement. Please see the listings below for more information:

HomeTips, a California-based book developer, is producing a new book for Sunset Magazine and Books called Patio Roofs & Gazebos. This book will present ideas, inspiration, and plans for a variety of covered garden, patio, entry, and deck roofs; trellis-type overheads; and freestanding structures such as gazebos, arbors, and spa overheads. For this book, HomeTips is seeking photographs with, ideally, plans of these types of structures. Any available construction shots, step-by-step photographs, or before-and-after shots are also requested. Designers and photographers will be credited in the book.

For submissions, please send transparencies or high-resolution scans (300 dpi, Macintosh format Tif or Jpeg files). For questions or more information, contact Gabriel Vandervort at gabriel@hometips.com.

WorldChanging is publishing a book with a section on the creation of great public spaces. Specifically, they’re looking for “grassroots examples of groups who have created neighborhood places through a combination of community cooperation and citizen action on urban design.” If you have a project that fits the bill, click here, and describe the project in the comments section.
