           2004 Professional Awards Jury Comments

This was a pro bono project, part of the Library Initiative, a successful program run by the Robin Hood Foundation that builds libraries in some of New York City's neediest neighborhoods. This project is their first schoolyard and seeks to create colorful and functional outdoor learning environments for the second largest elementary school in the country and one that had very little outdoor space. All planting and installations for the project were done by volunteers from the school, the community, and sponsors.
