Charge and Responsibility
205. Coordination and advocacy of the Society’s professional
practice network program shall be vested in the Council of Professional
Practice Networks. The Council shall represent the PPNs organizationally
and programmatically within ASLA and, in consultation with the
vice president and managing director for information and professional
practice, shall:
205.1 Consider matters of interest and concern to the PPNs
as a whole.
205.2 Monitor PPN achievements and challenges in maintaining
active and continuous leadership and in meeting member expectations
under the Basic Standards of Member Service as defined in Section
306.
205.3 Propose new Council programs for consideration by the
Executive Committee of the Board of Trustees and recommend discontinuation
of such outdated or unsuccessful programs. Council proposals
for new programs shall be presented through the vice president
and managing director for information and professional practice
for review by the vice president for finance and chief financial
officer prior to full Executive Committee consideration in accordance
with procedures outlined in the ASLA Finance and Investment
Policies. Project proposals shall be approved by an affirmative
vote by a majority of the Executive Committee of the Board of
Trustees present and voting.
205.4 Advise the Executive Committee of the Board of Trustees
on new developments and changing needs in specialized areas
of practice and on legislation affecting specialized areas of
practice.
Duties of the Council Chair
206. Leadership, guidance, and direction of the Council of Professional
Practice Networks shall be vested in the chair. The chair of the
Council of Professional Practice Networks shall:
206.1 Maintain regular communication with and among the PPN
chairs and with the vice president and managing director for
information and professional practice.
206.2 Through the vice president and managing director for
information and professional practice, report to the Executive
Committee of the Board of Trustees on PPN achievements and challenges
in maintaining active and continuous leadership, in meeting
member expectations under the Basic Standards of Member Service
as defined in Section 306, and in carrying out any additional
project/service objectives.
206.3 In consultation with the vice president and managing
director for information and professional practice, assist in
the formulation of the Council’s annual operating plan
and budget for inclusion in the Society’s overall Annual
Operating Plan (AOP) and Budget. Budget development and program
planning for the Council shall be done in accordance with the
Budget Development and Program Planning Calendar outlined in
the ASLA Finance and Investment Policies.
206.4 Through the vice president and managing director for
information and professional practice, provide input on PPN
member recruitment and retention efforts.
206.5 Through the vice president and managing director for
information and professional practice, provide recommendations
for potential PPN chairs.
206.6 Preside at the annual meeting of the Council and any
meetings of the Council held via conference call.
206.7 In consultation with the vice president and managing
director for information and professional practice, assist in
the preparation of reports on Council activity for inclusion
in the AOP Program and Operations Reports prepared quarterly
for the Board of Trustees by the ASLA executive vice president.
