Current Members and Organizational Characteristics
The chair and members of the Council on Education shall
be appointed by the president and serve two- (2) year terms
with one-half (1/2) of the members appointed in even years
and one-half (1/2) appointed in odd years. The appointments
shall maintain a reasonable balance among private practitioners,
educators, and public employees to best represent the views,
needs, and composition of the professional membership of the
Society. The vice president for education and the ASLA representative
to the Landscape Architectural Accreditation Board (LAAB)
shall serve as ex officio members of the council. Persons
other than landscape architects may be appointed as nonvoting,
advisory members of the council for terms of one (1) year.

Charge and Responsibility
The Council on Education shall provide guidance and direction to
the Board of Trustees on matters relating to education policy; accreditation
of professional degree programs; administrative and legislative
program support; establishment of new programs; growth in program
enrollments; and employment trends. Changes in education policy
and accreditation standards to be endorsed or recommended by the
Society shall require an affirmative vote by a majority of the Board
of Trustees present and voting.
Reporting
Reports on council activity are included in the Program and Operations
Reports prepared quarterly for the Board of Trustees by the executive
vice president and staff liaisons. |
