The American Society of Landscape Architects (ASLA) was among 146 national, regional and local organizations, elected officials, individual professionals, and businesses to send a joint letter to Congress as part of the Transportation for America Coalition. The letter urges Congress to invest in clean, green long-term transportation modernization projects as part of any economic recovery package they consider. Specifically, the letter urges Congress to provide funding for transit, rail, bike, and pedestrian projects to ensure a balanced set of transportation investments for a sustainable future. You can read a copy of the letter by clicking here. Transportation for America has formed a broad coalition of housing, environmental, public health, business, urban planning, transportation and other organizations that seek to align our national, state, and local transportation policies with an array of issues – economic opportunity, climate change, energy security, health, housing and community development. Transportation for America is a growing and diverse coalition focused on creating a national transportation program that will take America into the 21st century by building a modernized infrastructure and healthy communities where people can live, work and play. For more information on the Coalition and its platform, visit the Transportation for America web site.
