Room reservations at the official hotels for the ASLA Annual Meeting and EXPO are booking up quickly, so be sure to make your reservations as soon as possible. Discounted rates have been negotiated for meeting attendees at five beautiful San Diego hotel properties, all within walking distance of the San Diego Convention Center.
| Hilton Bayfront Hotel|
The Hilton San Diego Bayfront is the headquarters hotel and the site for the Board of Trustees meeting, the Chapter Presidents Council meeting, the Alumni Reunion, the Council of Fellows Dinner, and the President’s Dinner, where the 2011 ASLA Honors will be presented. It is directly across the street from the San Diego Convention Center and only two blocks from the popular Gaslamp Quarter. The hotel is new and located right on the waterfront with spectacular views overlooking the city and Coronado Island.
“The decor says ‘boutique’ hotel, with cool blues, warm beiges, and browns echoing the nautical heritage of the area,” says Joyce DePass, director of meetings and special programs for ASLA, who has stayed at the property several times for preplanning meetings. “The rooms are beautifully designed and spacious and—most importantly—the beds are very comfortable. The service is exceptional, and the food is delicious. There is a full-service business center with staff. Although I haven’t gotten to try it out, the pool overlooks the bay and has a large plasma-screen TV showing underwater scenes.” The Hilton offers a $224 room rate for ASLA meeting attendees.
The other four hotels, the Hilton Gaslamp ($199), the Hotel Solamar/Kimpton ($230), the Marriott Marquis ($225), and the Omni ($225), are close by and also lovely properties.
Click here to make a reservation at any of these hotels, or call 1-800-967-4590 or 847-996-5875. Call Center hours: 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. (CST) and 9:00 am to 6:00 pm (EST). When making a phone reservation, be sure to identify yourself as an ASLA Annual Meeting and EXPO attendee to ensure that you receive your discounted group rate and that ASLA receives credit for your stay.
“Staying at one of our official meeting hotels allows ASLA to negotiate better rates and to keep registration costs down,” says DePass. “The more rooms we book in a city, the more leverage we have to schedule future meeting space and hotel rates in other top cities ASLA members love, such as San Francisco, Denver, New York, and Boston.”
The special ASLA discounted rates will be available through September 30 or until the room block is filled, so make your reservations now to ensure you get to stay at one of these fantastic properties.
