Landscape architecture as a contemporary practice has its theoretical roots in multiple disciplines, drawing from geography, ecology, architecture, sociology, and art.
This lecture is an attempt to explore the potential of incorporating artistic qualities into landscape design. It puts forth an understanding of the intimate relationship between contemporary art practice and landscape architecture and applies that understanding in a design context to explain, and hopefully articulate how a designed outdoor environment can be simultaneously a functional space and an artistic expression.
Bingshan Chen Wong is s a registered Landscape Architect in the State of California with over 20 years of professional experience in landscape architecture, urban planning and design. She is actively providing landscape planning and design services locally and internationally. She holds a Masters Degree of Landscape Architecture from University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign and a Bachelors Degree of Landscape Architecture from Tongji University, Shanghai, China.
The discussion is led by Stephanie Landregan, MSPM, PLA, FASLA, LEED BD and C, and Program Director, UCLA Extension Landscape Architecture Program.
