Following the announcement in August 2021 by the Old Port of Montreal Corporation of a 50-million-dollar investment in the realization of the Master plan for the Old Port of Montreal, the Corporation has launched a request for proposals to hire an experienced Architecture Firm or a Landscape Architecture Firm.
The Corporation developed a high-level Master Plan vision that was made public in 2017. It now wishes to implement the first phase of this vision by retaining the services of an experienced firm to create a detailed concept based on the vision proposed in this Master Plan but not constrained by it.
The Old Port of Montreal Corporation has been offering a variety of interactive, cultural, and recreational activities for over 25 years. Bordering the St. Lawrence River over 2.5 kilometres, the Old Port of Montreal is home to more than 50 attractions, restaurants and shops and is Quebec’s most popular recreational and tourism sites with more than six million visitors each year. Forty years after the Government of Canada’s initial commitment to redevelop this former section of the port (1977) and almost 30 years after the inauguration of the Old Port (1992), new investments are needed to improve visitor entertainment and provide unique experiences where the water, city and history come together.
