Brief description of event: The Gulf Coast Green symposium is an annual event for architects, landscape architects, engineers, developers, and other interested parties to learn about green/sustainable design and growth. It is the leading green building conference on the Texas Gulf Coast and is geared towards sustainable design in a hot, humid environment. The Expo is open to these professionals during the symposium then it opens to the public for the weekend.

Name of Activity: ASLA Texas Chapter Annual Conference

Brief description of event: It is the Texas Chapter’s Annual Conference and Expo. The expo has approximately 45 exhibitors and is usually attracts over 400 professionals and many landscape architecture students. This year there are 19 educational sessions, tours, golf tournament and awards banquet, (see attached conference schedule for more detail information).

Name of Activity: Landscape Architectural Presentation at Booker T. Washington High School / Retrospect Exhibit
Date: Presentation – Within month of April 2009, Retrospect Exhibit – April 14 – April 28, 2009.
Location: Northpark Mall – Dallas, Texas

Brief description of event: Retrospect is an event in which architect’s / landscape architect’s plan, design and build interpretive exhibits reflecting the work that they specialize in and reflective of the respective career field. Austin Frith of the D/FW Section of ASLA along with HNTB have proactively selected team members from Booker T. Washington School for the Performing Arts to learn about the Landscape Architecture career field and to work from scratch on an exhibit to be displayed at the Retrospect event. The D/FW Section is also planning to make a Landscape Architecture Career Presentation at the overall student population at the School in coordination with Landscape Architecture Month.
