Westport, MA: From Manna to Modernism

The Cultural Landscape Foundation’s annual excursion offers an exclusive tour of bucolic Westport, Massachusetts. The community is a model for conservation, sustainable agriculture, land preservation, Modernist design principles, and great food. The day begins at the home of landscape architect Doug Reed, FASLA, and Will Makris with a Bloody Mary bar and discussion of the Westport Land Conservation Trust’s work. Next, a visit to Westport Rivers Vineyard & Winery, which promotes local agriculture and has earned over 20 gold medals. Then, to The Back Eddy, a dockside restaurant created by James Beard Award winning chef Chris Schlesinger. The day concludes with the opening reception of the exhibition, “Landscape 2013: The Landscape Architecture Legacy of Dan Kiley” at the Boston Architectural Center. Proceeds support TCLF’s education programs.
