Chameleon Ways, Inc.  Natural Aggregate Bound Surfaces.  This session will explore how the  decorative surfacing and paving products provide unique, beautiful and maintenance free alternatives to asphalt, concrete, pavers and steel tree grates.  Utilizing the natural color of aggregates, these surfaces offer numerous applications to brighten paved environments with color, patterns, textures and even porous surfaces.

This session will discuss the rapid growth and growth patterns as well as product categories within the leisure industry. Creative design and functionality of outdoor living areas will be given special attention and examples of popular cooking and entertaining appliances will be shared.

Invisible Structures, Inc.: Porous Pavement Solutions. Attendees will gain and understanding of the history, applications, limitations, and benefits of porous pavement types. The course will also focus closely on flexible, plastic porous grass and gravel containment, and porous pavements including specifying and installing for drainage, parking, fire lanes, and access roads.

Traditionally, the design philosophy for managing stormwater has focused on controlling stormwater run-off and discharging it from the site as quickly as possible. While this has been an accepted design practice for decades, recent technological advancements allow for an innovated new solution that literally turns onsite stormwater management upside down.

ARCOM: Good Specifications Make For Good Contract Documents. Hear specifications insights and tips and familiarize yourself with tools that speed their production. Examples will illustrate product selection criteria, soil mixes, substitution procedures, installation requirements, initial maintenance, and warranty provisions. Poorly researched, written, and coordinated specifications lead to errors, delays, cost overruns, and unhappy clients.

Esri: Geodesign: New Tools That Inform Design.Geodesign supports rapid evaluation of design alternatives against the probable impacts working across multiple scales and disciplines to support transparent, collaborative, informed design. Web-based GIS “sketching” tools and “procedurally-based” 3D visualization methods that turn programmatic goals into rules that automate design and report generation will be demonstrated.

Opportunities do exist for those looking. Come hear an emerging professional and seasoned landscape architect share tips, strategies, and opportunities for finding work and building a support network in a bad economy.
